We were up fairly early to: have breakfast, pack the tents,
get ready and pack the trailer before loading into the van for a very long road
trip of a day – we had to cover 450 miles to get to the Cathedral Gorge camp where
we’d be staying! We did have an interesting route to take to get to this place
though as we would be travelling on the Extra Terrestrial Highway very close to
the secretive Area 51.
A long way later, with a distinct lack of alien sightings
and we pulled in for a restroom stop at the Little A’le’inn. This place is a
fun, yet very quiet little bar/ café that was also in the movie Paul starring
Simon Pegg. There was even a “real UFO” in the parking lot.
Nothing much more happened on the road to the camp and we were all glad to get out and unload the trailer once we finally made it there. It was quite a change of scenery from the woods of the past two nights as we were now in a very secluded desert landscape. About a five minute walk from the camp was Cathedral Gorge where we all walked to for a look at the odd looking rock formations of the place.
Back at camp Danny and Andrea set about cooking the tea for
everyone which turned out to be a pretty successful chicken pasta, minus the
chicken for Tayseer though.
