We slept in a little today in preparation for what would be
a mega drive; Danny had a solid five hour slog in the Dodge ahead of him.
We had decided to act upon the advice from one of the guys
from the other day’s wine tour and head up to Lake Tahoe. He had told us that
it is a very scenic place and well worth a visit if we had time… we do and so
set off.
The drive didn’t offer anything spectacular until we neared
the lake itself which is when we started getting the mountains and forests
creeping into view. We soon reached South Lake Tahoe and our motel for the
night which, again, was good quality accommodation. We had arrived late and
didn’t really have time or energy to venture out sightseeing and so opted to
find some food instead.
After browsing the web we thought we’d located some
potential food spots nearby and so made a short walk to a nearby casino/
everything else! This casino was actually just over the state line and so was
actually in Nevada. Inside we wandered through, all the while resisting the
urge to gamble, before finding a steakhouse we’d made note of. After the brief
elevator ride up to the 18th floor we saw the prices here and were,
very shortly back on the ground floor once more. We ended up getting a huge
pizza to share from an Italian takeout along with a yummy thick-shake from
Fatburger next door. We really had to fight the urge not to get something from
Fatburger; one of their burgers was a juggernaut of a thing and could be
ordered in XXXL size – yikes.
We ate back at the room and then settled in for an early
night.
