Day 124 - Driving up Through Big Sur

We got up and set off on a 3hr 30mins or so scenic drive up the western coastline. The weather was cloudy to start with but soon cleared and left us with some fantastic coastal roads to cruise along; stopping every so often to take pictures or just take in the views.

One of the more impressive stops was at an elephant seal vista point where we joined lots of others to watch the daily happenings of hundreds and hundreds of elephant seals in their malting season.

Due to setting off slightly later than planned we eventually reached Watsonville at about 17:00 and so, after showering, went straight out for tea where we managed to get a very cheap meal for two (we’ve managed to eat for very cheap so far in the US) at a chain called Appleby’s. We left this placed absolutely stuffed and with Corrie cradling a doggy bag with almost an entire meal that would be her lunch tomorrow.

Today doesn’t really seem like much but the drive itself was a good one. We’re not really looking forward to going back into a city again.
