Day 175 - Cave or Centre?… Or Both?

Today didn’t exactly go as planned but we muddled through it regardless. We started by getting up later than planned and then setting off on a long drive up to Louisville. Due to the two of us forgetting that tomorrow is the 4th July we now had a choice to make: Keep driving so we would be in time to look around the Muhammad Ali Centre as it is closed tomorrow but then be left with a long detour for tomorrow’s journey, or go and visit Mammoth Cave and miss out on the MA Centre. We ended up wanting to do both and so decided to leave the Cave until tomorrow and blast on up to Louisville, Kentucky.

We made good time and so had a good 2 ½ hours to wander around the centre. It was ok but not brilliant; Danny, who is a fan of Ali, found that he already knew most of the things the centre offered and little more. We think that it was set up to inspire people to try and achieve their best etc though we both agreed that there was just too much text to read! We can cope with some reading but there was way too much… the movie in the auditorium was good and there was a hands-on part which was good too. All in all it was ok to visit but you wouldn’t be missing out if you didn’t.

After here we had to go and find the motel and get some tea before bed time. We ended up finding a classic Denny’s diner where we pigged out on some cheap and cheerful American food.
