Our first stop of the day was back in Atlanta City where we
went to do the hour long CNN tour. This tour took us through the inner workings
of the world’s biggest news network and we also got to watch some of the live
broadcast from outside the windows of the main studio. We learnt a lot about
the intricacies of news and were shocked at how many members of staff are
involved in the running of this network.
We then moved onto the zoo as we thought we’d get our
money’s worth from the City Passes. This turned out to be a very brief trip and
was rather lacking in the amount of animals that could be viewed. This was due
to the record temperatures as predicted by the weather teams yesterday; all the
animals had the right idea and were either hidden inside or just lounging in
the shaded areas of their enclosures. You know it’s hot when the animals from
Africa can’t take the heat anymore. We’d pretty much seen all of the animals
before anyway but thought we’d check it out nonetheless as we were in town.
Back at the motel we escaped to the air-conditioned room to
lounge around and plan some more of our upcoming accommodation stops.
