Day 170 - Things Are Looking Brighter

All we had planned for today was a pretty long 5 hour drive that would take us to Atlanta, GA. We slung all our stuff in the car and then sat listening to a rattling noise coming from behind the fans. This noise was incessant and no matter what we tried we couldn’t get rid of it; turning the fan up only made the noise much louder. We decided to call into the rental car place just metres down the road as Danny was sure they’d be able to sort us out somehow. Neither of us really wanted to drive for 5-6 hours with the annoying rattle going on.

The rental place agreed with us on the annoyingness of the rattle but said they couldn’t help us out though we’d be able to get a replacement car from the one at the airport as they have way more cars available. As the airport was only about 10 minutes away we thought we’d give it a go.

After about half an hour we were on our way once more, this time in a brand spanking new Ford Edge SUV. The people at Enterprise didn’t have any cars of our category left and so Danny was asked if he’d be ok with an upgrade… of course he said yes! This car has plenty of room and an arsenal of controls to rival any James Bond car. We particularly like the rear view camera that’s displayed when the car is popped into reverse. Suddenly the 5 hour drive didn’t seem as bad as it had done though we are both now dreading what the fuel costs will be when we eventually have to top up this gas guzzler.

We arrived and checked in before grabbing some quick southern fried chicken for tea. The remainder of the night was spent abusing the free wi-fi as well as altering our flights home. We will now be leaving the USA on August 20th and will be touching down in the UK on August 21st.
