Day 59 - WENDY’S! WENDY’S! WENDY’S!

Oh yeah baby, we got up after a sleep-in and made our way to the Broadway Shopping Centre nearby to find God’s greatest creation – Wendy’s, mmmmmmm! Corrie got a large Mega Choc Shake as we’d had once upon a time in Adelaide, whilst Danny got a scrumptious hot dog to go with a large Flake Shake.

Once our cravings had been settled we tootled around the shops for a while, getting Corrie a, well-missed, Hoodie and also some Odor-Eaters spray for our reeking walking boots!

Then it was back to the hostel to make use of the free Wi-Fi and attempt to subdue to foul stench oozing from our shoes.

Later we set off walking towards The Rocks and then past the Opera House until we were in the Botanical Gardens. We’d planned to stroll along to Mrs Macquarie’s Point to watch the sunset but before we’d made it there we bumped into one of the ladies from our tour group, Claudia, and began chatting with her. All three of us ended up walking to the Point and enjoying the sunset together.

After the sunset we went a sat on Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and then decided to all head up the road to get some tea. It was nice to have Claudia along too and we went back to the Best Thai restaurant that we loved the last time we were in Sydney. This was, once again, great and filling and after eating, chatting and resting our legs we made the long walk back down to The Rocks where Claudia had overheard someone say that there was some kind of music festival on tonight. Well we couldn’t find it and eventually gave up this wild goose chase and attempted to find a pub. We say attempted because we were still dressed in our day clothes, including flip flops, which are a no-no for most bars after 18:00 here. Despite Claudia’s best attempts to win the bouncers over with her sincere German charm, we were struggling; this was until we came across the oldest pub once again, the Fortune of War and the bouncer was wooed enough by Claudia to give up and let us in! We had a drink each here and shared chit chat about each other’s countries, though what really seemed to amuse Claudia was our accents! After a while we called it a night and went our separate ways.
