Day 51 - Our First Day in Melbourne

We wanted today to be a lazy day getting to know our way around Melbourne, and this is just what it turned out to be. We had a lie-in before setting off towards the CBD (Central Business District) of Melbourne, deciding to wander through the incredibly vast hustle and bustle of the Queen Victoria Market. This market is, by far the biggest and busiest market either of us have ever seen, with massive sections for: Fruit and veg, delicatessens, clothes, fish etc. After managing not to lose ourselves or each other we found a nice stall in the delicatessen section where we grabbed a bargain lunch: 10 chicken wings, loads of chips and gravy for $8.

We then made our way into the town centre, popping in and out of various shops; including lots of book shops and lots of camera shops, though without making any purchases much to Corrie’s disgust!

We eventually made it down to the river, where we crossed and walked along the bank for a while before crossing back into the CBD.

Back in town we began the hunt for another Wendy’s and when this was seeming impossible, Danny connected to the Hungry Jacks Wi-Fi and discovered that it was impossible… the closest one was miles away so we slumped off, defeated for now… though Danny later located the one in Sydney that’ll not be out of range when we get there!

After a long day with lots of walking we headed back to the hotel and managed to get a great deal at a restaurant along the way, even stretching to get a bottle of wine as it was only $11 here.
