Day 207 - Day Two on The Canadian

We both managed to sleep much better last night and awoke to a stopped train in Winnipeg. We had only just arrived apparently and would be at the station for a few hours for servicing. We both opted to stay on board here though due to the very poor weather. The rain was pouring down and was still going strong when we awoke for a second time two hours later.

There’s not much you can really do when you’re aboard a train so it’s a good job we’ve got books… and the dome cars. Although this first part of the train journey is supposed to be the least scenic there’s still been no shortage of beautiful scenery as we’ve cruised along. We alternated between the dome car and just both sitting on the lower bed; reading and taking in the views. As there’s only a thick curtain separating the beds from the aisle you can hear everything going on in your area. The funniest of these eavesdropping sessions was when we heard the ever chatty Texan train spotter making his way down the corridor and then opening, what he mistook to be a toilet, and walking in. All we then heard was him exclaiming: “Oh wow!... I’m sorry I didn’t realise… (*he closes door*) oh my… gosh.” Then off he trotted down the aisle leaving a very shocked woman to continue her shower, hopefully now having locked the door!

Not much to report for the rest of the day, just more nice views, some nice food, and some more reading and relaxing.
