We thought we’d go ahead and book a hire car for tomorrow
and the day after so we set about doing that first. We booked the car, paying
more than we’d expected due to being under the age of 25, and then went looking
for a charity shop for Corrie. Corrie wanted to try and exchange a book she’d
read for another but we had no luck all around town and gave up on looking
anymore.
After lunch (sandwiches) we went in search of the Big
Captain Cook… and we found him. He was not too far away, in a car park so we
took a few snaps of him and strolled back to the hostel.
After this we really just lounged around some more in
preparation for the next couple of days. Corrie did some sunbathing and Danny
used up the remainder of our phone balance (this was ok though as it’s due to
expire tomorrow.)
As booze, apart from goon (the cheap 3.75 litre boxes of
wine,) is so expensive Danny had the idea of purchasing a pack of 30 cans from
a bottle shop in town. He bought this for the mere sum of $44 but his
excitement was short-lived as he then realised he had to carry this all the way
back!
After much sweating and cursing from Danny, and at about
21:00, we decided to go for a bbq; off we went with all our stuff, sticking it
on the hot-plate only to have the plate turn off after 5 mins. We discovered
then that all the bbqs must have a cut-off point just after 21:00 here. So we
then packed all the food etc up and went back to the hostel where we used their
kitchen to cook the grub; it was nice but not as cool and romantic as if we’d
done on the barbie outside!
