Day 87 - Ghost Town

After a long lie-in we decided to attempt some form of trip today and we were thinking of going to the aviation museum that’s received quite good reviews and is part owned by Peter Jackson. This was not to be as we were informed that it, like many other places in NZ, is closed on Good Friday and so we had to resort to plan B: a drive into town to see what was on offer there. It turns out that very little is actually open on Good Friday and we didn’t want to waste fuel driving out to the coast to places we’d already visited. We decided we’d get some shopping so we’d have stuff for teas etc and then we’d go back to the campsite and relax in the sun all day. All the supermarkets were closed here also and so we finally admitted defeat and made for the site where we then chilled out for the remainder of the day.

As we had no food for tea we thought we’d try and find a restaurant to eat out at – a fruitless task and soon we were sat in KFC, devouring a bucket load of chicken!

There wasn’t much else to do after that but go back and get ready for bed.
