Day 111 - A Day of Sorting Stuff… Kind of!

Due to yesterday’s extremely long day we both managed to get the best night’s sleep ever.

We woke up at 14:00 and then thought we’d go and try to sort out a rental car that we’d be needing for the next couple of weeks. The first place we tried was Thrifty but there prices were ridiculously high. We knew we’d get a better price if we called but Danny really had his heart set on trying to see if he could get one of the Adrenaline cars from Hertz. Thrifty did let us have a look at the 2011 convertible Ford Mustang so we could get an idea of the trunk size etc – twas a nice car and Danny was visibly tempted. Corrie dragged him away and we headed down the road to the Hilton hotel; inside was a Hertz rental desk and so we strolled over to it. After checking all our details etc they checked to see which vehicles would be available to rent. As soon as they reeled off: “Dodge Challenger – available.” Danny was in there and had them filling out the forms to bring up a quote. This process took a while but they eventually got us a price we liked (much cheaper than Danny had expected and cheaper than the rental of the Mustang.) We went away with a reference number and instructions to come and collect it on Wednesday meaning we’d have one more night in the LAX area than planned. This wasn’t a big deal as we have a lot of time to do the west coast and we haven’t really planned loads to do here – this is when we decided we’d best do a bit more planning for the USA!

Back at the hotel we planned for a little while and then went down to extend our stay by a night; and in the process ended up booking a driving sight-seeing tour of LA for tomorrow. We figured that this would give us a good idea of where we’d want to spend more time when we passed back through on the way up from San Diego later.

For tea we ventured a little further down the road to a Diner we’d spotted earlier in the day. This turned out to be a very cheap place offering pleasant food so we left very satisfied.

The rest of the night should’ve been more planning but we got distracted by the American TV channels!
