Yet another early start as we were picked up at 06:15 by the 20 seater Oz Experience mini bus that would take us on the 9 hour journey to Coffs Harbour (home of the Hollywood angry man, Russell Crowe). Weirdly it wasn’t as painful as it sounds as the trip was broken up with stops: a breakfast stop, a very brief and spontaneous outing, and a lunch stop.
We received our Oz Ex wristbands and were informed of some of the discounts etc these entitle us to (including Danny’s favourite - 10% off Subway sandwiches!)
The spontaneous outing was a stop off at a koala hospital (like us you’ll probably picture lots of koalas in beds, with drips and casts on their little furry legs and arms… or maybe not!!) It was lots of open air enclosures with trees and the koalas had their own sections. They all had problems (injuries, diseases and infections etc) and were all asleep when we got there. It was a nice stop though and now we’ve seen kangaroos, cockatoos and koalas.
The evening was spent having a stroll down the beach followed by a nice meal at a bowling club where we became temporary members!
